Hello and Happy New Year! I am Diane, the registered dietitian, nutrition counselor, and blogger behind RD Bytes. If you are a new visitor, “Welcome!” If you are a returning visitor, “Thank You and welcome back!” I started this blog 3 months ago, not knowing if I had the IT knowledge to get it up and running. As time goes on, I am both learning and enjoying all the aspects of blogging, including the technological ones! I want to take this time to let you know what I have in store for 2012 and, more importantly, to solicit your interests. First, let me share with you topics I have planned for 2012:
Sports Nutrition :
Recovery: What is it? Who needs it? When do you need it? My favorite, yummy, recovery drinks.
How to maintain lean body mass while dieting and avoid bone loss!
Hydration: How to know when you are hydrated and when you are not.
Nutrition periodization: What is it? Why is it important?
Food / Nutrition / Wellness :
Recipes to inspire you to get cooking! Culinary skills are health enhancing. Making you own meals is a trend health professionals encourage. My plan is to bring you more recipes and of course the “gawkable” photos indispensable to every good food blog! My first recipe will be Mediterrean Chicken which I will post on Monday, January 9.
Swap this for that. Ideas for substituting healthier ingredients in your favorite recipes.
Fun foods with good nutrition your kids will ask you to make again and again.
Tips to teach your kids how to order healthier at a fast food restaurant.
Meatless Mondays: Learn about a public health campaign that is both good for the environment and good for your health.
Fiber: Why it’s important in your diet and how to get more.
