Registered dietitians are professionals who have achieved educational standards that qualify them as food and nutrition experts. They are the leading resource for accurate nutrition information. In order to have the credential as an RD one must:
• Have completed a bachelor’s degree with course work approved by the Commission for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
• Have completed an accredited internship.
• Pass a national exam.
• Maintain continuing education credits (75 credits in 5 years).
• Follow state regulations and become licensed by the state.
